Week 34 – Day 1

Today I am going to slap someone.  To be specific, I am going to slap the person that pulls me off of the person that I will be assaulting.

It is that kind of day.  The universe is grinding on my last nerve.  And that nerve isn’t feeling very forgiving.  This may have something to do with the fact that I didn’t take my anti-depressants for 2 days.  But then, it may also have something to do with the fact that Boeta is in hospital for chemo until Saturday.  6 days, 5 nights.  This is going to be a very long week.

To make matters worse, we are in a general room directly adjacent to the under-construction former-paediatric-ward.  They are revamping in a big way but that means that our soundtrack this week will be (and is currently) the delicate concussion-inducing racket of hammering, hammer-drilling, grinding and shouting.  This does not a happy experience make.

In other news, Boeta has developed neurological effects from the Vincristine again.  He has had a slight limp since last Friday (10 days ago) but he hit his foot and fell that day so I thought it was that.  After a couple of days it became clear that it wasn’t getting better.  Cristina agrees that it is the Vincristine so Boeta will go to a neurologist tomorrow to check it out properly.  And he is going to get filmed.  Cristina is conducting an oncology training session for GPs and nurses from all over the country.  She wants to show them “the walk”.  It is very difficult to explain what it looks like so now she will show them.  My son the celebrity.
