It is raining again

As you definitely know by now, rain has a special significance in our lives.  Not an omen, not a superstition, just a reminder of God’s grace in our lives.  It is so easy to be blinded by the day to day grind and loose sight of that miracle.

Today we are grateful that tannie Santa is doing better.  She has no fever and is being weaned off the ventilator.  Her excretion is well and her heart and blood pressure is fine.  What a miracle!

We are also celebrating Woutertjie’s continued health.  This week has gone so well.  We even visited his bestest friend in the whole world today.  Carien was so excited when we announced that we were going to Hanré’s house!  She was walking around in our house calling Boeta so that we could leave.  “Optaan Ta!  Saam jy!  Han-ne-dry peel!” (Opstaan Boeta!  Saam ry!  Hanré speel!)

I am convince that Boeta is going through a growth spurt.  He didn’t get any taller since the start of his chemo (one of the side effects of chemo is lack of growth) and I suspect he may be catching up a bit of that.  He suddenly started napping in the day again.  3 hour naps!  He announces that he is tired and goes off to bed and then we’d better get him his bottle with milk ASAP!  Yes, he still drinks from a bottle.  He loves going to bed with his bottle of milk and I don’t see the problem with it.  I am weird that way.

About weirdness.  Carien is still breastfeeding.  It gives her comfort and security and right now she needs everything she can get.  But now she has started “breastfeeding” her dolls!  It is very funny.  She grabs them, lifts her top, holds them in position and makes sucking noises.  This child is priceless!

Tomorrow morning we are off to hospital for a full blood count and Vincristine.  So we should only be there for 2 hours or so.  Happiness!
